By air: Due to the geopolitical situation of the region, the best way to visit Armenia is by air. The country has two international airports, Zvartnots International Airport, located 12 KM outside of Yerevan, and Shirak Airport in Gyumri. Domestic and international cargo is handled by a cargo terminal at Zvartnots airport. You can come to Armenia via Aleppo, Amsterdam, Athens, Beirut, Dubai, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Kiev, Moscow, London, Paris, Prague, St. Petersburg, Tbilisi, Tehran, Vienna and Zurich.
Carriers: There are several national and foreign carriers that operate flights to Yerevan and Gyumri, including Aeroflot, Russian International Airlines (tel. 522435), Air Baltic (tel. 501221), Air France (tel.512277), Austrian Airlines (tel. 512201), and Czech Airlines (tel. 522162).
Airports: Zvartnots International Airport handles flights from different parts of the World. It has ICAO 2-nd category certificate with 24 hours service. There are Business and 2 VIP halls and modern Duty Free Shops. Shirak Airport is considered the second International alternate airport of Armenia and in 2007 was given the status of an ICAO First Class Airport.
Between Airport and town: Zvartnots International Airport (tel. 533311, 533411) is 12 kilometers southwest of Yerevan. You can travel from the Airport to Yerevan by bus, minibus, minivans and taxis. Private cars are also available and can be booked through a hotel. The average fare for a taxi ride from Zvartnots to Yerevan is around US $15. You can book a taxi at the airport once you claim your baggage. You can also rent a car without a driver through several companies, including EuropCar and Hertz.
