Transportation in Armenia
Armenia uses the right-side movement principle. When crossing the road it’s necessary to look left at first.
There are several modes of transportation available in Armenia. For traveling to the various regions, visitors can choose either buses or minivans. In Yerevan, people use the subway, trolley buses, trams, buses and minivans. Taxis and private cars are also available.
In general, public transportation in Armenia is very cheap. A ride on the Yerevan Metro (subway) costs 100 drams (about 30 cents). It runs from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. about every five minutes during rush hour and 10 minutes during regular hours. Tickets for a bus or trolley ride cost about 10 cents depending upon the length of the journey. Taxis are also rather cheap, costing about $1 for 4-5 kilometers, though meters are practically not used by taxi drivers. There are a number of taxi-by-phone services available in Yerevan.
